Amber is the fossilized resin of trees that lived between 25-35 million years ago and are now extinct. Some lesser known forms of amber are as old as 300 million years. Most of the jewelry grade of amber comes from the Baltic area as well as some from the Dominican Republic. The Baltic amber we sell is usually a golden honey color but can also have deeper red overtones.

Amber has been used by man for over 12,000 years. In ancient Greece amber was known as elektron or "formed by the sun." The present useage of the words electron and electricity come from amber's ability to create an electrostatic charge when rubbed.

Amber has a beautiful golden light that reminds us of the sun and of amber's unique origins.
