Turquoise

Turquoise is a blue green mineral that has been highly valued in many cultures. Its color can vary from light sky blue “robin’s egg” to hues with more prominent green. It is a cool soothing color and turquoise has a calming effect on the nervous system.

The name turquoise refers to Turkey and the 17th century trade route that turquoise took from the mines in Persia thru Turkey to Europe. In America most turquoise has come from the Southwest - especially Arizona and Nevada.
